As a Staff Designer, you will serve as an experienced individual contributor within a team, with the expectation that you will further develop your leadership, guidance, and mentoring skills. With minimal oversight from leadership, you will be responsible for supporting the goal of meeting scope, schedule, and delivery requirements. A Staff Designer impacts the long-term goals of meeting these requirements and contributes to the development of the program’s research strategy and long-term objectives. 


Primary expectations of a Staff Designer include:

  • Demonstrating strong influential skills to build relationships with team members, government and company stakeholders, and program management
  • Leading cross-functional efforts for team members and team leads
  • Navigating ambiguous requirements and environments to support delivery
  • Planning, conducting, analyzing, and sharing knowledge from research based on the team’s questions and goals
  • Prioritizing research projects based on team needs and goals, while balancing research team capacity
  • Planning and facilitating collaboration between researchers, product team members, and stakeholders
  • Influencing and communicating research strategy for the program
  • Demonstrating the ability to coach and mentor researchers, with a focus on providing actionable feedback that helps individuals grow within the research discipline
  • Participating in grading candidate homework and panel interviews
  • Identifying risks and communicating them to leadership, while providing recommendations to mitigate identified risks
  • Overseeing research scope and developing recommendations; leading efforts to effectively communicate results to internal and external stakeholders
  • Contributing to the planning, conducting, and synthesizing of research
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree and 7+ years of experience (relevant experience may be substituted for education)
  • Prior experience serving as a mentor to junior team members
  • Extensive experience with research principles and relevant technologies, with an understanding of the roles with which they interact and how their work impacts business goals
  • Experience with Mural, Figma, and Wireframe
  • Ability to obtain a Public Trust clearance
