About the Job – Your Role
The purpose of this position is to provide maintenance and repair services for the Physical Plant and equipment essential to the operation of the institution. The role involves performing a wide variety of building trades tasks to maintain and improve the institution’s facilities.
Key responsibilities include preventive maintenance on all equipment and buildings, which involves:
- Responding to emergency breakdowns
- Shutting down systems when appropriate
- Maintaining inventory and ordering supplies
- Performing other maintenance and repairs necessary for Physical Plant equipment, structures, systems, and grounds
This position may also assist other maintenance shops as needed. Additionally, the role directs, instructs, and coordinates A.I.C. work crews in repair projects, ensuring all work is completed safely and correctly. The position is responsible for enforcing and adhering to all applicable Department of Corrections rules, institution procedures, and administrative directions, while ensuring that established security protocols are strictly followed and enforced at all times.
Minimum Qualifications

Completed painter apprenticeship training and be a journey worker; OR
Three (3) years of varied painting experience.
Special Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid Oregon Driver’s License
Requested Skills
- Strong supervisory and leadership skills to effectively direct, train, and coordinate work crews, ensuring safe and professional job performance
- Experience in general painting and maintenance tasks, including surface preparation and refinishing
- Knowledge of proper use and maintenance of painting and building equipment
- Skilled in drywall repair techniques such as scraping, patching, taping, and coating
- Proficient in surface preparation methods including sanding and power washing for various interior and exterior surfaces
- Ability to perform minor repairs to furniture, woodwork, and cabinets prior to painting or refinishing
- Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality workmanship and site safety
- Capability to conduct site inspections to verify proper equipment use and adherence to safety protocols
- Experience in routine preservation and maintenance of buildings and structures
- Knowledge of environmental regulations for proper disposal of paint products and mate
