Pre-Finish Lead Operator (Swing Shift)

Do you enjoy hands-on work where precision and craftsmanship matter? We’re looking for a dependable, detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Pre-Finish Lead Operator. This is a working lead position — you’ll not only operate finishing equipment with a painter’s eye for quality and detail, but also take on supervisor responsibilities: supporting your crew, providing direction, and ensuring production runs smoothly, safely, and efficiently.
Training Schedule (first 90–180 days):
Day Shift: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM – 2:30 PM
Permanent Schedule (after training):
Swing Shift: Monday–Thursday, 1:00 PM – 11:30 PM
Wage: $21.00/hr and up depending on experience (swing shift premium of $1.75 added after training period)
What You’ll Do

Operate and set up machinery to apply pre-finish to door skins

Perform proper line feed and stacking techniques

Perform quality checks using calipers and other measurement tools

Monitor coating levels; fill and record as needed

Troubleshoot and resolve issues as they arise

Verify machine settings before and during operation

Document work and communicate effectively with the incoming/outgoing shift

Provide guidance and direction to team members as a working lead

Perform basic start-up, shutdown, and housekeeping duties
What We’re Looking For

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement: Interest in diagnosing problems, improving processes, and keeping production running smoothly

Attendance & Reliability: Consistently shows up to work on time and ready; flexible to work overtime when needed

Safety: Understands and follows all safety policies and procedures, including LOTO, PPE, and equipment care

Technical Skills: Able to use scanners, read SOPs, and understand workflows; comfortable with basic computer systems

Physical Requirements: Able to bend, stoop, kneel, lift, walk, and perform repetitive movements; able to lift 50+ lbs

Collaboration & Communication: Works respectfully with others, follows directions accurately, communicates concerns clearly, and shares improvement ideas

Craftsmanship & Workmanship: Works quickly, productively, and safely while meeting quality and customer standards. Approaches finishing as both technical and artistic — monitoring coating levels with a painter’s eye for consistency, precision, and detail
