Schedule Details/Additional Information:

0.5 FTE will be dedicated to role as supervisor. Days and shift TBD.

Major Responsibilities:

 Oversees the day-to-day operations in the department. Works as a team with manager and other supervisor(s) to achieve operational efficiencies and optimum patient satisfaction.  Evaluates processes and provides input related to department performance improvement and productivity standards.  Manages staff coverage in assigned areas to ensure that priority patient and family needs are met. 

Must be able to demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served and their families from the scope of child life, music therapy, art therapy, and education needs. 

Develops and maintains site-based department policies and procedures. Oversees completion of all required documentation per department policy. 

Identifies, plans and organizes department performance improvement initiatives.  Assists in planning, implementation, and ongoing assessment of process improvements plans in the department. 

Assists in hiring process for new teammates, including but not limited to interviewing candidates, development and implementation of orientation throughout the department, communicates schedules with preceptors, and assists in orientation/training of new teammate, acquiring all phone/equipment needs, and introduction to staff.   Provides orientation to clinical and department policies and procedures; assigns mentors to new staff on rotation and ensures staff competencies are met for equipment and skills. 

Collaborates effectively with system leadership, physicians and/or committees/work teams in developing, promoting, and enhancing new programs and services, strategies, site projects, standardized competencies, policies and procedures, and other market or site issues. 

Works in conjunction with site based and market teams to ensure all local, state, and federal compliance standards, guidelines, and practices are met, including standards set by The Joint Commission. 

Provides input into operating, staff and capital budgeting process and is accountable for operating within the budget.

Ensures that all productivity, labor efficiency, and contribution margins are met. Manages building equipment and issues as required.
