Hillcrest Hospital’s Progressive Care Unit offers hemodynamic monitoring, continuous respiratory care, pharmacologic interventions, and step-down open-heart, thoracic and cardiovascular services to diverse populations of young adult, adult and geriatric patients. 

A caregiver in this position works a day/evening rotation from 6:30AM – 7:00PM or 6:30PM –7:00AM.  

A caregiver who excels in this role will:  

• Provide or assist with patient care under the supervision of an RN, which may include vital signs, weight, assisting patients with personal care and activities of daily living, patient transfers/transport, pulse oximetry, point of care testing, dressing changes, applying external monitoring devices and removing urinary Foley catheter.  

• Report abnormal findings or changes in physical, mental and emotional conditions to an RN.  

• Assist with keeping patients’ rooms clean and orderly.  

Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:  

• High School Diploma or GED  

• Nursing students: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) required prior to hire 

• One year of recent, full-time patient care experience OR nursing student who has completed at least one clinical rotation as part of an accredited nursing school program OR military experience as a Hospital Corpsman (HM), Combat Medic (68W) or Medical Service Technician (4N0X1) 

Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: 

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) to be obtained within new hire period
