About the role:

Permanent Full-time position to provide high quality Catering Services that meet consumers expectations, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Catering Services department

Responsibilities of the role:

  • Responsible for the smooth and efficient running of the Catering Services department.
  • Consult with Dietician and consumers to ensure food and menus are of a high nutritional standard, are culturally appropriate, and meet the consumer’s needs and preferences.
  • Ensure that cooking, meal preparation and presentation (including special dietary requirements and function catering) are performed in accordance with legislative requirements.
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations and coordinate workflow among catering staff.
  • Prepare and present nutritionally balanced meals in line with residents’ needs and clinical requirements.
  • Ensure all meals meet food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Responsible for the Food Safety plan and compliance with all relevant legislation.
  • In consultation with consumers and staff, review service delivery, make recommendations for improvements, implement and review the changes.
  • Work within the Barunga Village approved catering management systems and processes.
  • Provide leadership and development to Catering Services staff.
  • Work within the allocated budget, researching different products that may provide both value and quality.
  • Responsible for the ordering of supplies for catering. Ensure that stock is maintained and managed according to budgets and Food Safety program.
  • Ensure responsible stewardship and security of catering resources.
  • Orientate and induct new catering staff, including delivery of practical component of Food Safety and other training as required.
  • Advise the line manager of the identified catering staff training needs.

About you:

Essential qualifications and experience

  • Relevant tertiary or trade-based qualifications, or willingness to undertake studies.
  • Experience in managing Catering Services.
  • Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification.
  • Demonstrate successful experience in the management of staff including knowledge of the principles of effective human resource management and including the principles of managing and motivating staff, equal employment opportunity and staff training and development.
  • Knowledge of the requirements of the Occupational Health Safety and Welfare Act, particularly hazardous substances and Infection Control principles.
  • Knowledge of cleaning and laundry services techniques and professional standards.

Special conditions

Current motor vehicle licence is required.

Maintain current Food Safety Supervisor (FSS) certification by a RTO.

Some out of hours work may be required.

Physical fitness appropriate for duties, which involve prolonged and significant activity including lifting, walking, bending and stretching.

Some out of hour's duties may be required from time to time.
