Summary:
Flowserve is seeking a Technical Specialist to support its Automation Services growth by collaborating closely with sales teams and key clients. This role will serve as a subject matter point of reference relative to the provision of Automation Services and solutions. This will encompass actuator selection, control technologies and the provision of technical and commercial insights to drive product diversification and customer solutions. The specialist will analyze end-user requirements, develop brand-agnostic solutions, and resolve technical challenges to enhance customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities:
Foster strong customer relationships through close collaboration with sales teams to Identify Automation Services growth opportunities.
Collaborate with sales teams to develop account strategies for key clients and provide market intelligence on technical and commercial aspects of actuation.
Serve as a subject matter point of reference to the Sales teams for actuation selection and associated control technologies.
Coordinate with engineering teams, product teams and external actuation OEMs to develop techno-commercial solutions that meet customer needs.
Contribute to product diversification strategies by aligning customer needs with global product leadership initiatives.
Analyze end-user requirements and deliver brand-agnostic technical solutions for retrofit and new equipment applications.
Resolve technical and commercial challenges to exceed customer expectations.
Maintain updated account plans and track opportunities in the CRM system (FlowForce).
Identify and escalate potential risks to customer relationships or business opportunities.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (BS or BA) with 8+ years of relevant experience. Or combination of education and experience commensurate with the requirements of the position.
Understand the operating function of different valve types including, isolation, linear and rotary control valves.
Is conversant with selecting and sizing actuators for various valve types as noted above, ideally this will include pneumatic, hydraulic, and electric types.
Has a good understanding of actuator positioner control systems, communication protocols and integration with Digital Control Systems (DCS) and asset management systems.
Is familiar with hazardous area classifications for electrical systems and how to apply them.
Basic knowledge about safety integrity levels (SIL) and how they can impact product selection.
Can perform basic troubleshooting and fault diagnostics.
Being able to understand pneumatic / Hydraulic schematics and basic electrical wiring diagrams is considered an advantage.
Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking skills used to develop targeted account plans.
Excellent customer-centric approach and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively across all organizational levels and business groups.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Excel, PowerPoint).
Knowledge of industry standards relevant to FLOWSERVE’s product portfolio.
Willingness to travel up to 50% within the USA and Canada.

Must be self-starting and provide the necessary structure, organization, planning, and effort to accomplish the business objectives.
Physical Demands
Ideally, the candidate should be located in the Houston area; however, this is negotiable, as the selection will be based on experience rather than location.
Ability to travel approximately 50% of the time.
