Vocational Supervisor, Barn and Greenhouse

About the role


SUMMARY

The Barn & Greenhouse Program Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of Sunshine’s barn and greenhouse programs, which support individuals with developmental disabilities while engaging the broader community. This role combines program development, staff supervision, retail oversight, community engagement, and hands-on work with plants and animals to foster meaningful educational and vocational opportunities.



Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in education, horticulture, animal science, special education, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
  • Knowledge of animal care, horticulture, greenhouse operations, and sustainability practices. Knowledge of animal behavior and positive reinforcement training techniques.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience supervising staff and/or managing educational or vocational programs.
  • Valid Driver’s License, good driving record and Auto Insurance
  • Experience in retail or sales environments preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and implement educational or vocational programming.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
  • Understanding of liability considerations and public safety regulations related to animals and product sales.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills with diverse groups, including individuals with DD, families, and community partners.
