Maintenance Technician II

Job Summary

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for repairing, adjusting, and maintaining production equipment on a daily basis. Holding a Forklift Certification, this role directly impacts customer satisfaction and operational profitability. Given the physical demands of this position, the technician must consistently utilize correct lifting techniques, proper body mechanics, and all applicable safe work practices.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Job Functions

Core Maintenance & Technical Duties

  • Work Order Management: Receive work orders for assigned areas and prioritize tasks as directed by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Electrical & Electronics: Read electrical schematics, troubleshoot electrical equipment, change motors, and support electronic interfaces for robotic/CNC systems.
  • Mechanical & Hydraulics: Perform mechanical troubleshooting, rebuild gearboxes, splice conveyor belts, install/move machinery, and execute pneumatic and hydraulic repairs.
  • General Fabrication & Trades: Perform minor welding applications and install/repair plumbing systems.
  • Production Support: Maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all production equipment to minimize downtime.

Operational & Safety Responsibilities

  • Safety Compliance: Strictly follow and support the Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) program.
  • Policy Adherence: Comply with all company policies, departmental safety guidelines, quality procedures, and operational standards, reporting any deviations immediately.
  • Workplace Upkeep: Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively participate in process improvements using internal quality systems.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Perform duties of other maintenance positions and execute additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience required.
  • Certifications: Forklift Certified.

Technical Skills & Knowledge

  • Robotics & CNC: Knowledge of robotic/CNC systems with the ability to support electronic interfaces, mechanical installation, design/fabrication, repair, and maintenance for automation devices.
  • Schematics & Blueprints: Ability to read and interpret machine designs, electrical schematics, pneumatic/hydraulic schematics, and blueprints.
  • Problem-Solving: Proven ability to evaluate design flaws and implement corrective actions to eliminate chronic equipment problems and reduce excessive downtime.
  • Documentation & Mathematics: Basic math and engineering skills to support machine design/modification. Ability to develop operating/maintenance manuals and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • System Knowledge: Comprehensive working knowledge of department safety, quality, company policies, and all operational machinery/processes required for repair.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

  • Working Environment: Manufacturing warehouse environment featuring industrial woodworking machinery.
  • Work Pace: Functions at a pace ranging from occasional to frequent.

    • Lifting: Frequently handles weights between 1 lbs. – 49 lbs.; occasionally lifts, carries, pushes, and pulls wei
