Job Summary

This position will support assessment work being conducted within the Center for Civic Engagement. This position provides a unique “behind-the-scenes” look at how assessment drives the development of successful community partnerships. In general, this position will be responsible for interviewing faculty and staff about their community engagement and public service, entering activities into our campus-community engagement database, Collaboratory, analyzing data, and providing detailed reports to multiple stakeholders articulating how the campus provides unique educational experiences to students while also supporting the community.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Assist with conducting faculty and staff interviews and data entry of community partnerships and public service in Collaboratory. Analyze community partnership and public service data to learn about current areas of strengths and gaps in service areas/opportunities for enhancement. Write reports/develop presentations to share findings with unit/faculty.
Serve as a staff member in CCE participating in regular meetings and trainings, promote department programs and services on campus and in the community, assist with other department programs as needed, attend required professional development sessions and office events, support office functions and perform other duties related to the department as assigned.

Expectations: The student is expected to serve as a positive representative of CCE using professional verbal and written communication skills while communicating with multiple audiences and supporting CCE’s principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion. The student will be expected to meet with their supervisor weekly or bi-weekly as well as demonstrate excellent time management, project management, and multi-tasking skills necessary when working independently.

The Center for Civic Engagement is located at 300 W. North St. Normal, IL. However, occasional meetings, participation/work at events on campus will be necessary as well.

General Statement of Purpose and Duties: The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) is a unique department with responsibilities that support the missions of the Division of Student Affairs and the Division of Academic Affairs. The department is responsible for enacting Illinois State’s commitment to civic engagement and fostering a culture that values and rewards civic engagement. This is accomplished through a variety of programs and services with students, faculty, and staff and in partnership with Bloomington-Normal community organizations. CCE organizes work around civic engagement including volunteering and service-learning, political engagement, and civic education.

Our Mission: The Center for Civic Engagement connects students, faculty, staff, and alumni with local, national, and global communities through meaningful civic engagement to promote the lifelong learning and development of active community members.

CCE is comprised of 7 professional staff, 2 graduate assistants, and a number of student workers, interns, or fellows. While each staff member has specific responsibilities, the department operates as a team, and therefore, all staff are expected to support a variety of programs and services.
