You are comfortable working with other SREs, developers, and support to help provide value to the broader organization. You take opportunities to fix problems and step outside your comfort zone to develop your skillset.

Us
The Platform and Site Reliability Engineering team – PRE – at Apptio is responsible for enhancing and maintaining our Kubernetes platform and driving the adoption of SRE best practices across our engineering teams.

In this role, you will be part of a team that looks after the development and support of the Apptio Kubernetes Platform in AWS. Our team works closely with our product teams to raise the quality and reliability bar for our products and services and provide feedback and guidance for the adoption of cloud technologies in all stages of the development cycle.

In a typical day on this role, you will interact with Linux, Kubernetes, ArgoCD, DataDog, Docker, Terraform, GitHub, Confluence, Jira, Slack, and AWS. If you don’t know all these tools, don’t worry, we are not expecting that you know them all, we understand that technology evolves quickly.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise
Experience in a large-scale, distributed Linux/Unix environment
Experience with container and scheduling technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, Helm)
Familiarity with RESTful systems and their APIs
Familiarity with cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience with declarative infrastructure tools (Terraform, CloudFormation)
Experience with observability (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, DataDog)
Understanding of IaC, GitOps, CI/CD and SRE principles
Experience with any high-level programming languages (Golang, Python)
Security mindset and focus
Ability to work both collaboratively and autonomously
Mentoring peers and knowledge sharing skills
Great communication skills
Fluent English language skills

Preferred Technical and Professional Expertise
Has experience collaborating with team members in a mostly-remote team
Has experience developing Kubernetes operators
