We are looking for you to join our team as a Data Science and Engineering Manager 2 to support advanced technology development programs.

What You'll Get To Do:

This is a dual-role technical manager position including people management and direct program leadership contribution. The split between program and functional duties will be approximately 80% program and 20% functional, on average. The direct program work may include technical work in the form of data science and/or analysis, or any other appropriate technical contribution.

As a member of our team you will:

  • Support a team of 10-15 technical staff in management role. Administrative management responsibilities include staffing, performance and compensation management, and career development.
  • Lead data science and data engineering projects across the organization.
  • Inform stakeholders and program managers for status updates, issue resolution, and overall engineering execution.
  • Partner with program management office to ensure successful execution against cost and schedule targets.
  • Provide technical leadership to the team and ensuring proper engineering processes and procedures are followed.
  • Work with peers and training leads to identify critical skill shortfalls; develop appropriate technical training; and improve team performance.
  • Develop analytical framework to conduct novel experiments on superconducting devices.
  • Support existing analytical tools and support implementation of new capabilities.
  • Support the current and future development of analysis platforms within function, cost and schedule constraints

This position requires full-time on-site work at our Advanced Technology Laboratory (ATL) in Linthicum, MD location or our Annapolis Junction, MD location.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics STEM related field with 8+ years of relevant experience; Master of Science degree in STEM related field with 6+ years of relevant experience; PhD in STEM related field with 4+ years of relevant experience.
  • Experience designing large scale analytical platforms.
  • Experience with various data storage methodologies such as Relational, NoSQL, Object Store, and Time Series.
  • Experience with MLOps and the tools associated with it, like MLflow.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamentals of Machine Leaning and Deep Learning.
  • A strong ability to learn new topics quickly and independently solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing and prioritizing projects of a large scale.
  • Experience and knowledge in the following programming languages: Python and Matlab.
  • This position requires the applicant to be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance per customer requirements.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with 6+ years within a related engineering field.
