The Team

Upstart’s Product-Led Growth (PLG) Team is dedicated to deepening relationships with our existing users by delivering personalized, timely, and relevant financial offers through our ecosystem. Our vision is to continuously underwrite users to keep them engaged throughout their journey and empower them to make the best financial decisions. We are a key lever to grow our product marketplace and are leveraging ML to craft experiences that build trust and unlock value.


As a Senior Engineering Manager, you’ll lead the team focused on optimizing user engagement and growth through seamless offer presentation, intelligent targeting, and cross-sell strategies. From enhancing the logged-in dashboard to refining personalized experiences with pricing orchestration, your work will directly shape how users discover and benefit from Upstart’s expanding suite of financial products.

 

How you’ll make an impact:

  • Define and drive an engineering roadmap that enables intelligent, personalized offer presentation and strategic product recommendations
  • Partner with Product Managers, Designers, ML Scientists, and Marketers to deliver impactful, user-facing features
  • Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team focused on building scalable, high-quality systems
  • Leverage experimentation and analytics to iterate on user engagement strategies, enhancing lifetime value and customer satisfaction 

 

What we’re looking for: 

  • Minimum requirements:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field
    • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 3 years in direct engineering management
    • Demonstrated success leading product-oriented teams delivering user-facing features with measurable outcomes
    • Strong communicator adept at translating complex technical topics to cross-functional audiences
  • Preferred qualifications:
    • Experience with growth engineering systems such as experimentation platforms, personalization engines, or recommendation algorithms
    • Familiarity with marketplace-style product dynamics
    • Full-stack development experience with an ability to contribute across the stack
    • Proven ability to scale both technical systems and engineering organizations

 

Position Location - This role is available in the following locations: Remote, San Mateo, Columbus, Austin 

Time Zone Requirements - This team operates across all U.S. time zones.

Travel Requirements - This team has regular on-site collaboration sessions. These occur 3 days per quarter at an Upstart office. If you need to travel to make these meetups, Upstart will cover all travel related expenses.
