The Role: Principal AI Architect

Responsibilities and Impact:

• Lead the design and implementation of enterprise-scale AI architectures that drive innovation across S&P Global's financial data and analytics platforms

• Partner with cross-functional teams to translate complex business requirements into scalable AI solutions, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and technical standards

• Architect and oversee the development of machine learning pipelines, model deployment frameworks, and AI infrastructure that support real-time financial analytics and decision-making

• Mentor and guide engineering teams on AI best practices, emerging technologies, and architectural patterns while fostering a culture of innovation and technical excellence

• Drive technical strategy for AI initiatives, evaluating and recommending cutting-edge technologies, tools, and methodologies to maintain competitive advantage

• Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to define AI roadmaps, assess technical feasibility, and communicate complex architectural concepts to both technical and business audiences

Compensation/Benefits Information (US Applicants Only):

S&P Global states that the anticipated base salary range for this position is 150,000 – 300,000. Final base salary for this role will be based on the individual’s geographical location as well as experience and qualifications for the role.

What We're Looking For:

Basic Required Qualifications:

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related technical field, or equivalent professional experience

• 8+ years of experience in software architecture with 5+ years specifically focused on AI/ML systems design and implementation

• Deep expertise in machine learning frameworks and libraries such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn, or Keras, with proven ability to architect production-scale ML systems

• Strong programming proficiency in languages such as Python, Java, Scala, or R, with experience in distributed computing frameworks like Apache Spark, Hadoop, or similar technologies

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform, including AI/ML services, containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and infrastructure as code tools

• Proven track record of leading technical teams and driving complex AI projects from conception to production deployment

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience in financial services, capital markets, or data analytics industries with understanding of regulatory requirements and data governance

• Expertise with MLOps practices and tools such as MLflow, Kubeflow, or similar platforms for model lifecycle management and automated deployment pipelines

• Knowledge of big data technologies including streaming platforms (Apache Kafka, Apache Pulumi), NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Cassandra), and real-time processing frameworks

• Strong background in natural language processing, computer vision, or other specialized AI domains relevant to financial data analysis and insights generation
