Position Summary
North Park University is seeking a well-qualified Student Accounts Specialist. The Student Accounts Specialist provides excellent customer service for undergraduate students and their financial sponsors as it pertains to billing and payments. Through collaboration with the Financial Aid Office, Records, Academic Engagement & Student Success. The Specialist ensures students receive accurate and up-to-date information on the status of their account.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Communication
- Have a comprehensive understanding of program and billing codes to effectively explain student account charges and balances.
- Meet with students and families to discuss tuition and fee charges, account balances, payment plans, and payment options.
- Collaborate with financial aid for awareness of packages and how enrollment status may impact the account. Also, communicate to students whether they have missing or incomplete financial aid documentation as this would also impact their aid posting to account.
Fiscal Responsibility
- Collect and record student receivables, including those that are outstanding.
- Generate billing statements
- Generate and update payment plans
- Reconcile receivables and prepare deposit information for the Business Office.
- Knowledge of how to apply special benefits and payments to student accounts, including but not limited to Veteran’s Administration benefits.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or two years of experience in customer service, accounting or similar applicable field.
- Strong attention to detail while working in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely with tact and diplomacy in all communications.
- Possess a high level of professionalism and maturity due to the handling of confidential and sensitive information.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft suite and ability to quickly learn database platforms.
- Personal commitment to North Park’s mission of Christian higher education.
- Will be required to complete training such as but not limited to Mental Health First Aid and FERPA.
- Some evenings and weekends will be required for key university events.
Desired:
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred (both oral and written).
