Job Description:

We approach problems with creativity and innovation. Schnabel is seeking a part-time Civil Engineering Intern to support our growing business. The emphasis for this position is broadening the intern’s practical knowledge and experience by applying professional principles to real problems.
Job Responsibilities:
- Apply professional principles, complex numerical models, and innovative solutions to real-world problems as part of a team of engineers and scientists while under the supervision of senior engineering personnel.
- Assist in the preparation of CAD drawings and ArcGIS Pro for contract documents and reports with input and guidance from senior engineers in accordance with internal drafting procedures and guidelines.
- Perform structural and geotechnical design calculations for tunnels and underground structures including tunnels, shafts, excavation support, trenchless, and other underground facilities.
Required Skills/Experience:
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering Bachelor’s. Enrollment in other college engineering or relevant science programs may be considered.
- Possess good oral and written communication skills and computer literacy
- Ability to work with direction as part of a team
- Willingness to perform a variety of tasks including office and field work
- Desire and willingness to work both outdoors and indoors
- Ability to routinely lift up to 25 pounds
Preferred Skills/Experience:
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering
- Junior, senior, and graduate students only
- Prior professional work or summer intern work in a related field
Other Requirements:
- Must possess a valid driver’s license as driving is an essential function of the job
- Ability to pass a background check which may include criminal history, motor vehicle record and credit check
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening
The compensation range for a Civil Engineering Intern is between $18.00 to $25.00. Compensation for this position may vary based on geographic location and other factors. We remain committed to providing competitive and equitable compensation to all employees, regardless of their location.
