About the role

Job Summary:

The Managing Director is responsible for developing and executing forensic business with a focus on digital assets including but not limited to investigations, compliance, disputes and receiverships. The MD will leverage existing relationships and develop new relationships through meetings, conferences, thought leadership in collaboration with BDO business development, BDO Marketing and existing BDO knowledge leaders. The Managing Director will develop a strategy for growing BDO’s Digital Assets service offering that also includes recruiting, technology, quality control, global collaboration and strategic alliances, and business development initiatives.

Job Duties:

  • Develops comprehensive Forensic Digital Asset strategies and Go To Market Plans
  • Recruits qualified candidates in BDO Forensics with Digital Asset knowledge and experience
  • Generates incremental Digital Asset and general Forensic revenues through existing and new relationships developed in collaboration with other BDO professionals 
  • Enhances existing BDO Digital Asset processes and quality control
  • Provides Digital Asset and other Forensic project management, supervision and quality control
  • Testifies on relevant Digital Asset dispute and investigative matters as required by clients and their counsel
  • Develops Digital Asset and Forensic thought leadership articles and communications
  • Aides in the development of targeted and Digital Asset specific sales and marketing materials
  • Monitors and implements industry trends and best practices and creates a positive, team-focused environment
  • Generates revenue, leads engagements, supervises and provides quality control oversight for general fraud engagements, asset tracing matters, dispute relationship engagements and Compliance matters
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • Supervises the day-to-day workload of various staff 
  • Acts as Career Advisor
  • Evaluates the performance of employees in Forensics Digital Assets and assists in the development of goals and objectives to enhance professional development

Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree, required; focus in Accounting, preferred
  • MBA or JD, preferred

Experience

  • Ten (10) or more years of experience in developing significant business and managing multi engagement relationships, required
  • Five (5) or more years of experience in Digital Asset Forensics, required 
  • Prior experience testifying in the Digital Asset space, preferred

License / Certification(s):

  • CPA, preferred

Software

  • Proficient in Digital Asset Wallet tracing software, required

  • Strong business development skills through relationships, contacts, and reputation

  • Proven ability to collaborate with other leaders  
  • Effective testifier in court and alternative dispute resolution venues
  • Seasoned presenter in large group setting including national and international conferences

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills with the ability to meet project deadlines with a focus on details
  • Proven ability to work in a deadline-driven environment and handle multiple projects simultaneously 
  • Ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels of the firm 
  • Ability to effectively manage a team of professionals and delegating work assignments as needed
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with client personnel
  • Capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and client personnel 
  • Ability to encourage team environment on engagements and contribute to the professional development of assigned personnel
Individual salaries that are offered to a candidate are determined after consideration of numerous factors including but not limited to the candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, and geography.   NYC/Long Island/Westchester Range: $250,000 - $400,000
