Our team is searching for a Sr. Operations Engineer to work at our Port Arthur, TX site. The Port Arthur site is a Joint Venture between BASF and TotalEnergies and operates one of the world’s largest naphtha steam crackers and C4 Olefins complexes. Transforming crude oil and natural gas into chemical building blocks for many consumer and industrial goods.
Our C4 Olefins Complex houses the world’s largest butadiene extraction facility and an indirect alkylation unit.
As Sr. Operations Engineer, you will provide technical direction and leadership for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective manufacturing of petrochemical products. You will collaborate with key stakeholders in operations, maintenance, technology, and production planning to meet the production targets. You will also have an opportunity to participate in exchanges with our sister units in other regions.
As a Sr. Operations Engineer C4 BD - Port Arthur, TX, you create chemistry by...
- Providing technical support and troubleshooting expertise to the Daily Operational Team (DOT).
- Identifying opportunities and effectively evaluate initiatives in production and process optimization, cost reduction, and quality improvements in our Butadiene unit.
- Monitoring operations in the Butadiene unit and its interfaces with other units at the site. Including the daily monitoring, analyzing, and studying process of data to determine patterns, research inefficiencies, and identify action plans to correct issues.
- Participating in production planning and scheduling.
- Offering technical and leadership support in root cause failure analysis for production, EHS, and Quality Incidents, as well as participating in Process Hazard Analysis to support the PSM process and PSSRs.
- Generating and completing MOCs and revalidating temporary MOCs to confirm their validity.
- Ensuring effective continuous operation by providing on-call support after-hours in case of events that impact production or EHS.
- Developing equipment and process standards, operating procedures, and training materials as needed to document and manage site operations.
If you...
- Hold a Bachelors in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
- Possess professional experience in a chemical, petrochemical, or related manufacturing environment working with chemical processing equipment.
- Have at least 5 years of work experience in a Manufacturing environment (preferably petrochemical).
- Possess excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
