Position Summary
The Director of Engineering is responsible for the execution of technical initiatives to meet current and long-range business plans as defined by TSE Brakes Leadership. This position is also responsible for the development and support of TSE Brakes products by providing technical expertise to the following: sales and marketing, customers and end users, product support for manufacturing and purchasing.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Product Lifecycle Management: Lead the development, validation, and launch of new product lines, including the oversight of DVP&R protocols and field evaluations.
- Commercial Support: Partner with Sales and Marketing to translate technical data into commercial advantages and provide high-level field support during post-launch phases.
- Testing & Data Integrity: Manage all product testing procedures and equipment to ensure data accuracy and compliance with industry standards.
- Technical Authority: Serve as the primary subject matter expert (SME) for TSE Brakes products for both internal teams and external customers/end-users.
- Quality & Compliance: Direct the company’s Total Quality Management (TQM) activities and maintain a leadership role in ISO-9001 registration and compliance.
- Strategic Alignment: Champion Marmon’s LEAN and Strategic Marketing Plan (SMP) initiatives within the engineering and quality departments.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor Technical and Quality personnel, ensuring departmental alignment with company policies and performance benchmarks.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage technical teams and drive cross-functional collaboration.
- Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Industry Expertise: Deep knowledge of commercial highway vehicle braking systems and related regulatory environments.
- Technical Fluency: Advanced technical aptitude and proficiency with modern engineering software.
- 6–10 years of progressive engineering experience within the automotive or commercial vehicle industry.
- At least 3 years in a management or high-level project leadership capacity.
- Standard office environment with prolonged periods of desk-based work.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and navigate manufacturing/testing environments (stooping, kneeling, standing).
- Domestic and international travel required based on business needs (approx. 5–10%).
