Job Purpose

We are seeking a Sr. System Engineer to contribute to the planning, development, and support of advanced IT infrastructure and cloud strategies. This role works within a structured environment, focusing on implementing secure, scalable solutions involving server, storage, and network technologies. The engineer will design infrastructure diagrams, implement technical strategies, manage storage systems, maintain servers, and support users across complex IT systems.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain enterprise-level network, cloud, and security solutions.
• Develop and document infrastructure designs, diagrams, and system architecture.
• Install and manage physical and virtual servers, firewalls, and network access controls.
• Administer Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and Windows Server environments.
• Maintain and troubleshoot NAS systems, including Lenovo Unified Storage and TrueNAS platforms.
• Support backup and archival systems, including tape library file restoration and retention.
• Provide IT support for servers, lab networks, forensic workstations, and user devices.
• Manage software updates, antivirus solutions, and hardware diagnostics.
• Collaborate with forensic analysts to address hardware/software issues and support procurement.
• Monitor and renew software, dongle, and user licenses.
• Design and implement complex network infrastructure solutions with security in mind.
• Create technical documentation, including network maps and system configurations.
• Participate in on-call support as needed, including evenings and weekends.
• Provide testimony in legal proceedings when required to validate server integrity and data handling.

Required Skills & Experience

• Advanced expertise in configuring and managing Cisco Catalyst, HP Aruba, and Mellanox/Cumulus/NVue network hardware.
• Proficient with Lenovo Unified Storage (NetApp FAS) solutions and Think Systems storage platforms.
• Experience managing enterprise Active Directory environments and associated Windows services.
• Skilled in NAS system administration, including routine updates and problem resolution.
• Strong understanding of networking concepts and security protocols.
• Proficiency in creating technical documentation and reports.
• Knowledge of backup/restore technologies and archival systems.
• Experience in supporting IT infrastructure in lab, production, and forensic environments.
• Familiarity with TrueNAS systems.

Preferred Skills

• Experience with systems performance testing and troubleshooting.
• Ability to manage large-scale network and security projects.
• Experience configuring forensic workstations and secure environments.
• Ability to create and maintain domain users and access controls.
• Hardware/software license tracking and compliance.
• Experience working with Certified Forensic Computer Examiners (CFCE).
• Ability to appear in court to validate the integrity of IT systems and data.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience installing and maintaining DPS/DFL-compliant software and hardware.
