JOB SUMMARY

The Mining Engineering - Operations Intern will be based out of the Dolese Richard’s Spur Plant near Lawton, OK. This position will consist of multiple projects to provide engineering support to the operation as well as gaining other aggregate operational experience. This position is expected to have a 70%/30% field/office split.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Work with quality control to sample and analyze product gradations

• Track and analyze multiple portions of mining cycle: drilling, blasting, crushing, screening, and stockpiling

• Work with site management to increase site efficiencies

• Work with engineering group on projects and to provide short-term mine planning

• Assist with inventory flights and volume calculations

• Work with surveyor to locate and identify utilities and property lines

• Perform operational work as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing a degree in Mining Engineering or a related field

• Interest in hands-on learning and site-based work

• Experience with modeling software (AutoCAD, Carlson Mining Software, Surpac, etc.) preferred

• Experience in mining or the aggregate industry preferred

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong engineering and technical skills

• Ability to create and understand complex Excel spreadsheets

• Ability to work independently with some guidance

• Excellent communication, observation, and reading comprehension skills

• Ability to engage and influence all levels of the organization

• Ability to multi-task and handle large workloads under time constraints

• Ability to understand and apply analytical and statistics tools

• Results-oriented with strong process and execution skills

• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including early mornings, nights, and weekends

• Must have the ability to work outside for extended periods of time

• Currently possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Lift objects repeatedly of various dimensions and up to 50 lbs. of weight

• Ability to repeatedly climb stairs and climb ladders

• Ability to repeatedly balance, bend from the trunk, crawl, kneel, push and pull objects

• Ability to tolerate working in all environmental temperatures and weather conditions

• Ability to repeatedly reach, squat, and tolerate prolonged standing/walking/sitting

• Ability to repeatedly walk on uneven surfaces
