Duties: Lead Phlebotomist
Lead and coordinate the activities of the phlebotomy team. Support continuous quality improvement of laboratory services and provide feedback to staff on performance. Responsible for collection, and transportation of patient specimens for clinical laboratory testing while adhering to department identification policies. Perform, evaluate, and report patient specimens using point-of-care instrumentation. Demonstrate behavioral skills that contribute to a productive work environment, represent the lab in a professional manner, and provide excellent customer service. May process and distribute patient specimen for clinical laboratory testing. Use comprehensive knowledge to accurately perform and evaluate in an efficient manner.
Required Qualifications: Lead Phlebotomist
• Minimum of one year of phlebotomy experience required.
• Minimum of 18 years of age required.
• High school education or equivalent required.
• Effective written and oral communication skills required.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, teamwork, and flexibility required.
• Computer experience required.
• Attention to detail required.
• Ability to multitask required.
• Phlebotomy certification, PBT (ASCP) within 12 months of hire or transfer date required.
Preferred Qualifications: Lead Phlebotomist
• Completion of a phlebotomy course preferred.
• Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
• Specialty certification by a nationally recognized certifying agency preferred.
