What you’ll do
Working from our Elizabeth office you’ll engage with local communities to understand their needs and connect individuals with the right supports. Your work will contribute directly to improving people’s quality of life and supporting more cohesive, connected communities.
You’ll be trusted to make a valuable impact by:
- Engaging in community development work.
- Consultation with Aboriginal, CALD, LGBTQIA+ communities, people with disability and carers to identify gaps, co-design solutions and map community services.
- Receiving and triaging referrals, completing eligibility assessments and supporting participants to identify their strengths, goals and barriers.
- Walking alongside individuals for up to 12 weeks to help build confidence, introduce community activities and expand their social networks.
- Developing strong relationships with local organisations, forums and networks to understand emerging community needs and strengthen connections across the region.
What you’ll bring
To thrive in this role, you will have:
- Qualifications in community services, social sciences or a related area.
- Community development experience.
- Experience working with vulnerable people or communities.
- Strong relationship-building and engagement skills with an authentic, strengths-based approach.
- Sound judgment and the ability to match people with accurate, relevant referrals.
- Confidence working both independently and collaboratively with partner agencies.
- A current driver’s licence and access to a car.
We would also love you to have:
- Experience working with Aboriginal communities and/or CALD communities.
- Knowledge of local networks, services and community programs across the North.
