We’re looking for a proactive and experienced Equipment Maintenance & Engineering Manager to lead a team of engineers and technicians to maintain and support equipment used in hybrid manufacturing, focusing on building and testing Printed Wiring Boards (PWBs). This role ensures equipment reliability, reduces downtime, and drives continuous improvement initiatives. You’ll play a key role in fostering an efficient, collaborative, and inclusive work environment for technicians, engineers, and operations staff.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a diverse team of multi-skilled engineers and technicians, encouraging continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Lead individual development planning and training plans to create a high performing organization.
  • Provide technical mentoring and facilitating training to ensure high technical competency within your organization.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and inclusivity, ensuring the team is engaged, supported, and performing at a high level.
  • Oversee technician scheduling, shift coverage, and workload balance to ensure production goals are met.
  • Manage the daily operation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of PWB build and test equipment, including reflow ovens, SMT machines, testers, and automated inspection systems.
  • Oversee predictive, preventive, and corrective maintenance programs to maximize equipment uptime and production efficiency.
  • Implement poka-yoke (error-proofing) and lean manufacturing principles to reduce equipment-related defects and improve process reliability.
  • Identify and drive process improvements, leveraging data to enhance equipment reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including process engineering and production, to support new equipment integration and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support capital projects and the introduction of new equipment, ensuring proper installation, validation, and preventive maintenance planning.
  • Ensure all equipment and maintenance activities comply with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
  • Champion a "safety-first" mindset within the maintenance team, ensuring adherence to lockout/tagout (LOTO) and other safety protocols.
  • Conduct routine inspections and audits to ensure equipment is operating within specification and safety guidelines.
  • Leverage Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to track equipment history, schedule PMs, and analyze trends to prevent future issues.
  • Use KPIs such as Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF) and Mean Time To Repair (MTTR) to drive performance improvement.
  • Manage vendor relationships to ensure timely parts delivery and high-quality service support.
  • Develop and control maintenance budgets, balancing cost control with long-term reliability investments.

Must Have: Minimum Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, Manufacturing Operations or a related technical field and a minimum of 5 years experience in equipment maintenance or Advanced degree and a minimum of 3 years experience.

Nice to Have:

  • Strong technical knowledge of Printed Wiring Board (PWB) manufacturing and testing equipment, such as Surface Mount Technology (SMT) lines, reflow ovens, Automated Optical Inspection (AOI), In-circuit testing (ICT), functional testers, and environmental chambers.
