With a future mill expansion and the integration of New Ingerbelle, the Copper Mountain Mine is expected to produce approximately 140 million pounds of copper equivalent per year over the first 20 years of its 32-year mine life based on reserves. The Opportunity

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking a Temporary Production Geology Sampler (6 months) at our Copper Mountain Mine in Princeton, BC. This position is a 7x7, 12-hour, day shift schedule.

Position

Temporary Production Geology Sampler (6 Months)

 

Location

Copper Mountain Mine, is located near the town of Princeton, British Columbia at the center of the scenic Similkameen Valley. Princeton is a community-oriented town with a diverse offering of activities, especially for those who love the outdoors.  Princeton is also in close proximity to both the city of Vancouver and the Okanagan.

Summary

Reporting to the Senior Geologist, the temporary Production Geology Sampler is responsible for daily sampling of blasthole chips and delivery to the assay lab.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensures site compliance with mining regulations and follows Copper Mountain Mine site’s safety, quality, and environmental standards in all aspects of work,
• Observes Occupational Health and Safety Act, Mines Act, and the company’s standard operating procedures (SOPs),
• Samples blasthole chips in accordance with the Mine Geology SOP,
• Prepares sample shipments and delivers them to the assay lab on site,
• Inserts QA/QC samples to every batch as requested by the Senior Geologist,
• Ability to assist with exploration and infill drilling programs QAQC and sample delivery,
• Performs any other responsibilities related to the Production Geology Sampler position as required or as assigned by the department head.

 

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or higher, geological background considered an asset,
• Experience with physical labour, mine driving experience would be an asset,
• Previous experience in collecting geological data would be advantageous,
• Possess a valid Class 5/7N driver’s license and have access to personal transportation.
