The Build team is responsible for Docker’s container image build toolchain. Docker Build is used by millions of developers in their local loop and on their CI to build container images. It is an important part of Docker Desktop, Docker’s Linux packages, and third-party products like GitHub Actions. The team has members from the US West Coast to Central Europe and its mission is to make performant, secure, predictable, and accessible build tooling.
The successful candidate is passionate about developer experience with an interest in low-level container workings. They have experience with developing, maintaining, monitoring, and scaling SaaS solutions. They are comfortable working with peers in Product and Design to solve user problems. Finally, they are passionate about how developers’ lives could be made easier, and excited to create world-class tools.
Responsibilities:
Develop, deploy, and monitor microservices in AWS
Contribute new Build features in collaboration with Design and Product peers
Interact with other teams within Docker, as well as with upstream open source communities and our users
Participate in paid on-call rotations: 12 hour daytime shifts, 7 days a week, once every other month
Qualifications:
Extensive experience working with Golang, with a deep understanding of its ecosystem, best practices, and design patterns
5+ years of experience building, deploying, and monitoring microservices on top of cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc.)
Experience developing for Linux
Comfortable with a high degree of autonomy (self-motivated, organized) and the ability to work remotely across time zones
