Oxfam America, Inc. seeks Director of Gender Justice & Inclusion in Boston, MA:

 

Provide strategic direction to lead the development and implementation of Gender Justice and Women’s Rights projects in accordance with the Oxfam America’s Strategic Plan, and oversee the research and analysis of policies and government regulations required for each project. Lead the development of a robust and systematic approach to putting gender justice at the heart of all of Oxfam America’s work, through long-term development, humanitarian, policy, research and influencing work, while ensuring consistency of approaches across the Oxfam. Work with senior management members including Thematic and Functional Directors and multiple Divisions at Oxfam to enhance Gender Justice and Women’s Rights project portfolio. Duties include the following:

 

  • Provide strategic leadership and vision to Oxfam America’s Gender Justice and Inclusion projects including the management and control of staff capacity, program quality, and knowledge development at Oxfam, to enhance Oxfam America’s long-term strategic development, humanitarian and influencing initiatives on Gender Justice;
  • Advise senior management leaders on women’s rights and gender equality; and ensure each department’s practice is in accordance with Oxfam America’s policies and standards;
  • Provide advice and Gender Justice policy sign off on positions and products in line with Oxfam America’s Gender Justice priorities, policy and program frameworks to campaigns, advocacy offices and affiliates;
  • Lead and guide Oxfam America’s gender justice programs and policy investments, development of technical expertise and other assets;
  • Establish Gender project management and implementation processes and ensure that each process are in accordance with Oxfam America’s program quality standards, including monitoring, evaluation, learning outcomes, and communication effectiveness, among others;
  • Direct Oxfam America’s Gender Justice & Inclusion Hub’s staff members and Gender Justice Leads; oversee their activities, including providing guidance and instructions on development opportunities;
  • Chair Oxfam America’s Gender Resource Network, overseeing the communications and workflow between the Executive Board Gender Justice Steering Committee and the Gender Justice Platform;
  • Oversee and direct the development and implementation of Oxfam America’s Strategic and Operational Plan for Gender Justice and Inclusion;
  • Represent Oxfam’s Gender Justice and Women’s Rights projects with media, donors, governments allies and targets in order to advocate and enhance Oxfam America’s project portfolio;
  • Coordinate the gathering and sharing of information on existing and emerging donor opportunities and liaise with appropriate Oxfam America teams to secure funding.
  • Co-leader and Advisor Principal of aGILE (a Global Innovation Lab for Equality), located within the Global Partnerships and Impact (GPI) division as a Gender Justice and Inclusion programming effort of Oxfam America.

 

Position will supervise 4 employees including, the Senior Manager Gender Justice and Inclusion, Manager Intersectional Feminism, Senior Advisor Monitoring and Evaluation Gender Justice and Inclusion, and Gender Grants Operations Specialist.

 

Minimum Requirements:

 

Master’s degree (or the foreign equivalent) in International Policy & Practice, Development Studies, or a closely related field and five years providing strategic direction to lead the development and implementation of multiple projects to promote gender justice, and oversee the research and analysis of policies and government regulations, for non-profit humanitarian organization or economic development organization. In the alternative, the employer will accept a Bachelor’s degree in in International Policy & Practice, Development Studies, or a closely related field, and seven years providing strategic direction to lead the development and implementation of multiple projects to promote gender justice, and oversee the research and analysis of policies and government regulations, for non-profit humanitarian organization or economic development organization. Travel required 20% of time to Africa, Asia and Latin America.

 

Experience must include the following, which may be gained concurrently:

 

  1. 5 years of experience establishing, managing and overseeing the design, development and implementation of Gender Justice projects and ensure alignment with organizational policies, and specific country and regional strategies;
  2. 5 years of experience managing and controlling project budget(s) and reviewing project exp
