Job Description
AECOM is seeking a highly motivated Senior Electrical Systems Engineer to join our team in Baltimore, Maryland. The ideal candidate will have experience in power distribution systems, Communications/Networking, Computer systems, Electronic Security Systems / CCTV or SCADA systems and 5 years of experience in electrical or systems engineering. This Senior Electrical Systems Engineer position will lead electrical system designs and will interface with various disciplines, preparing designs, conducting research, developing technical documentation, providing technical support to clients, and construction management support.
The successful candidate reports to the Manager of Systems Engineering and works directly with clients to ensure deliverables fall within the applicable scope and budget. AND will coordinate with other departments to ensure specific aspects of each project are compatible. Familiar with a variety of the Transit/Rail concepts, practices and procedures. Lead and direct the work of junior engineers. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected within area of responsibility, consistently identifies potential project problems or opportunities in a proactive manner, analyzes the issues using all appropriate resources, develops alternatives and arrives at the most optimum approach to mitigate problems or exploit opportunities. Makes sound, well-informed and objective decisions relating to assigned project with a strong understanding of the impact and implications of decisions.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the execution of projects
- Ensure that all projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget
- Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
- Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs using appropriate verification techniques
- Manage the relationship with the client and all stakeholders
- Establish and maintain relationships with the client, third parties/vendors
- Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation
- Meet with clients to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project
- Interfacing with various disciplines for the development of site plans, duct banks and ground grids
- Preparing designs and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations
- Preparing material/equipment specifications and purchase requisitions
- Developing and modifying single line diagrams, schematics, conduit and wire schedules
- Performing tests and issuing reports
- Developing technical, design and functional specifications for power, equipment and related systems
- Building technical documentation
