About this roll* (Responsibilities) 

As a Senior Software Engineer on the eCommerce team, you will:

• Work with fellow engineers, product managers and designers to make hands-on contributions and deliver a delightful end-to-end customer experience
• Build cloud-based services for e-commerce
• Design services that scale: caching, and asynchronous processing
• Deliver critical components and services to be used by a variety of clients, enabling flexible and optimized purchase workflows
• Mentor engineers through code-pairing and detailed code reviews
• Ship code that has a massive impact on the growth of Toast

Some projects we’ve been working on recently include:

• Empowering customers with self service order history and delivery tracking information
• Providing self service warranty replacement flows
• Expanding capabilities for flexible discounting campaigns
• Scaling our business systems integration to support increasing capacity and seamless downstream operations

Do you have the right ingredients*? (Requirements)

• Proficient in Java and Kotlin, with a deep understanding of quality and best practices
• Experience building ecommerce platforms
• Experience building back-end services and APIs from scratch
• Firm understanding of client-server communication and can apply different access patterns to solve problems
• You know how to monitor, troubleshoot, and improve system performance through logging and metrics
• You’re hungry to learn more and willing to take on challenging projects if it means you’ll be a better engineer at the end
• You know how to express humility and are an empathetic co-worker
