The position will be located in the Strategy, Planning and Sustainability team.
The Manager - Environmental Sustainability will:
Implement and report against the Caring for People and Planet strategy & associated Action Plan.
Be responsible for six monthly Board reporting on the CPP Action Plan.
Lead and manage key projects related to the execution of Caring for People and Planet Action Plan informed by Mercy Health's carbon footprint study.
Provide advice on climate initiatives in the design stage of the building projects.
Represent Caring for People and Planet internally and externally.
Ensure communication of the Caring for People and Planet strategy across all areas of Mercy Health in order to cascade staff engagement with the strategy throughout the organisation.
Provide leadership and expertise across Caring for People and Planet domains, and in organisational, change management and transformation.
Champion sustainability within Mercy Health.
Partner with internal stakeholders across departments to integrate sustainability practices and environmental leadership in Health Services and Healthy Ageing.
Develop action plans to drive the carbon reduction in trajectory plans.
Develop and deliver communication and engagement activities to raise awareness of Mercy Heath’s sustainability initiatives and progress both internally and externally.

To thrive in this role, you will have:
Essential:
Tertiary qualification/bachelor's degree in environmental management or similar or relevant discipline.
Minimum 3 years in sustainability leadership in healthcare and/or aged care.
Project Management experience, preferably related to large scale organisation change with environmental sustainability initiatives.
Demonstrated experience in working productively with a range of stakeholders and maintenance of collaborative and cooperative relationships.
Demonstrated expertise in relation to climate change, and knowledge of sustainable models of care, and justice and equity programs in the context of sustainable healthcare and aged care.
Highly development carbon literacy and numeracy and associated technical skills.
Experience in successful business case development, including the use of research and data analysis to provide compelling justification for proposals.
