POSITION SPECIFICS
A Postdoctoral Research Position is available starting June 3, in the Department of Geosciences at The Pennsylvania State University. The Postdoctoral Scholar will work on modeling the carbon and sulfur cycles through Earth history.
The Postdoctoral Scholar will work primarily with Prof. Kimberly Lau at Penn State to:
1. Develop a model of carbon and sulfur cycling in the Phanerozoic, such as for the Eocene
2. Compare model results to proxy records
Key responsibilities will therefore include:
1. Numerical model development
2. Presentation of results at scientific meetings
3. Preparation of scientific publications
The candidate for this position must have a strong background in biogeochemistry and global biogeochemical cycles, along with advanced scientific computing and modeling skills. Previous experience with numerical modeling of carbon and sulfur cycling is required. Candidates are required to have a Ph.D. (or completed all the requirements by the time of appointment) in a relevant field (geology, geophysics, earth sciences, geochemistry) and demonstrated effective writing skills through high-quality reports and publications.
