POSITION TITLE: Medical Support Coordinator (Level 1)

GENERAL SUMMARY
Medical Support Coordinators (Level1). Provides a combination of administrative and clinical support to outpatient medical providers. They are an essential part of a healthcare team, working in coordination with medical staff, schedulers, insurance staff, providers, outpatient support services and clients and their family members.
They serve as coordinators in clients’ care, ensuring administrative and routine clinical tasks are completed on behalf of the clients, in the medical setting. As beginning level of Medical Support Team, their training is initially completed
by Lead Medical Support Coordinators.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Provides direct care to clients in outpatient setting
- Develops and maintains a written treatment plan for assigned clients.
- Assumes primary responsibility for coordinating assigned client’s care with physician.
Requirements
EDCUATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma with 3 years’ experience in medical office setting.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Two years' experience performing office clerical activities in healthcare office setting.
- Must have ability to prioritize and multitask, handling multi-phone lines.
- Must be detail oriented, with effective organization and time management skills.
- Must have computer software proficiency, problem solving, and multi-tasking skills. Ability to communicate with people with various levels of medical knowledge in written and verbal forms for medications.
- Must have familiarity with medical terms, prescription technology and laws relating to medication refills.
- Must have a basic understanding of clinical tasks, client care procedures, medical terminology, and EHR tools, necessary to complete client care. Must be detail oriented, with effective organization and time management skills.
- Must exhibit sensitivity to the cultural and socioeconomic characteristics of the agency’s staff and clients.
- Must have positive attitude, strong communication and customer service skills, and work cooperatively within a team environment and serving as a leader.
- Must adhere to professional ethics and have ability to interact appropriately and effectively with families, children, community resources, service providers, and other professionals over the telephone, zoom, email, texting and face-to-face contacts
