PurposeWe are seeking a driven and adept Engineer focused on the development and enhancement of processes related to Additive Manufacturing (AM) equipment, with a specific emphasis on laser powder bed fusion (LPBF). The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about leveraging AM technologies to create transformative solutions in the aerospace and automotive sectors. The RoleMaintain, enhance, and operate metal powder bed fusion additive manufacturing machines, ensuring optimal part quality, machine uptime, and production throughput within set schedules. ·        Develop, optimize, and maintain LPBF processes and equipment to ensure high-quality production.·        Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate LPBF technologies into the manufacturing workflow.·        Conduct research and stay updated on the latest advancements in LPBF technology and materials.·        Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to LPBF equipment and processes.·        Perform root cause analysis to identify and address process and equipment failures.·        Implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.·        Develop troubleshooting flowcharts and plans.·        Create and implement maintenance instructions and plans.·        Develop and track maintenance and reliability metrics.·        Document and standardize LPBF processes and procedures.·        Develop and deliver training programs for staff on LPBF equipment and processes.·        Provide technical support and training to team members and stakeholders.·        Develop maintenance and sparing strategies.·        Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations.·        Manage configuration and ensure proper calibration and testing of equipment.·        Develop equipment qualification and quality system documentation. Basic Qualifications·        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field.·        5+ years of experience in additive manufacturing, preferably in the aerospace or automotive industry.·        Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) and AM-specific software.·        Strong understanding of LPBF technologies, materials, and post-processing techniques.·        Experience in performing root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.·        Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.·        Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.·        Strong communication and presentation skills.·        Proficiency with software and applications related to AM, such as simulation tools, data analysis software, and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems.
Preferred Qualifications·        Master’s degree in a relevant field.·        Experience with multiple AM technologies (e.g., SLS, SLA, FDM, DMLS).·        Knowledge of quality assurance and testing methods for AM products.·        Certification in Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma. Work Environment·        The person in this position needs to frequently work in a factory environment to access and repair machinery (up to 100%) ·        Ability to walk, kneel, reach, climb, use hands to operate machinery in an industrial production environment, as required. ·
