Job Description
The individual will assist with the development and implementation of elementary school quality programs that enrich the students intellectually, socially, emotionally, and physically. Teacher will maintain a safe and educational learning environment for children by successfully implementing the K8 curriculum and daily program activities.
Teacher will be a team player, a great communicator and will embody the International Baccalaureate Learner Profile and the values and mission of La Scuola.
Daily Expectations:
- Maintaining a high sense of professionalism at all times
- Teaching the programs that are created by the Elementary School Director
- Supervising snack and outdoor play
- Assisting children with day to day needs
- Maintaining a clean environment
- Leading group activities
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Daily presence (supervision and leadership as Recess Lead role) on play yard during K-8 outdoor recess sessions during school day.
- Hold other staff & faculty on recess duties accountable for punctual arrival, and attention to supervision and protocol.
- Collaborate with Student Support Team (Lower School Head, Dean of Students, Social Emotional Specialist and Learning Specialist) to establish both engaging outdoor play experiences and recess expectations for the students at the start of the year.
- Support with creating, introducing and posting outdoor visuals to promote safe, joyful and creative play.
- Communicate routinely with classroom teachers with any observations, questions or concerns about students.
- Communicate routinely with Specialists for outdoor play ideas - PE, art, garden, music, drama and Tinkering.
- Lead class meetings as needed throughout school year, in collaboration with teachers, to ensure students understand expectations and know their role in safe outdoor play and interaction.
- Lead students through established conflict resolution practices as needed, and set up outdoor environment to reflect practices.
- Participate in other supervision roles such as lunch duty, PE support or other classroom support.
- Collaborate with Student Support Team to research, recommend, obtain, and maintain outdoor recess materials.
- Create a Settimana page (google site) once per month for classrooms, highlighting outdoor play and recess experiences and growth through content and photos. Templates, sample Settimana and access to a camera and computer will be provided.
- Participate in scheduled events such as: Back to School Night, Spring Curriculum night and professional development days.
- Communicate with front office, and complete comunicazione alla famiglia forms in any incidence of a physical injury on the play yard.
- Communicate with front office, student support team and classroom teachers if there are any instances of heightened verbal or physical conflict.
Extended Care Teacher M-F 3:00 - 6:00pm, except Wednesdays 2:00-6:00p. After school instructors are energetic and engaged individuals who are interested in facilitating a safe, fun, and collaborative environment with both children and co-instructors.
