Occupational Therapist PRN

Assesses and treats patients referred for Occupational Therapy by physicians, podiatrists, chiropractors, dentists, and advanced registered nurse practitioners licensed in the State of Florida. Organizes and conducts Occupational Therapy programs to restore function, maximize independence, reduce pain, and prevent or correct disability following disease, injury, or illness.

Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational Therapy. 

Inpatient Experience: One year experience, which should include acute care, is preferred. Certification to perform ultrasound and electrical stimulation modalities is preferred. 

Preferred Education and Experience: Masters or Doctorate degree in Occupational Therapy, Occupational Therapist Registered (OTR), Physical Rehabilitation (BCPR), Environmental Modification (SCEM or SCEM-A), Low Vision (SCLV), Gerontology (BCG) 

Competency: Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Certification is required within the first 90 days of hire, thereafter an annual BLS refresher will be required. Attends all regulatory body mandated educational programs, annually. Attends minimally one clinical continuing education program annually, working toward 26 continuing education hours (CEHs) every two years. Attends minimally one non-clinical professional development course, annually. Serves as a clinical instructor, member of a committee or task force, or serves in other appropriate department support role. Demonstrates an appropriate and accurate evaluation or treatment procedure. Demonstrates basic functional knowledge of dictation and computerized system for patient medical record documentation. Demonstrates knowledge of human growth and development required for effective communication and care of child, adolescent, adult and older adult.

 Basic computer skills are preferred. 

Additional Considerations: Frequent stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting is required when moving patients and/or equipment during treatment Required to attend a seminar familiarizing the incumbent with emergency evacuation procedures. Must also attend inservices on AIDS and Hazardous Waste Communication. Due to the nature of the work, good interpersonal skills and sensitivity are necessary. Florida State licensure to practice Occupational Therapy.
