How You Will Make an Impact: 

The Mobile Equipment Operator Maintainer provides safe and efficient operation and maintenance of heavy equipment used for gravel road maintenance and cleanup of the Dune Express Overland Conveyor system: working with limited supervision and a focus on safety. Duties include but are not limited to safe operation and maintenance of motor graders, dozers, front end loaders, skid steers, compactors and forklifts along the 42-mile Dune Express corridor and local lease roads as needed. This includes inspection, documentation, escalation of equipment and road issues.

Responsibilities: 

• Pre-start checks Start-up, park-up, shutdown and communication procedures are carried out in accordance with manufacturers’ and/or site requirements.

• Ensure equipment is operated within vehicle limitations as specified by the manufacturer and/or site requirements.
• Ensure the machine is operated in a manner that maximizes tire life and equipment life.
• Records are maintained in accordance with site requirements.
• Work is completed in accordance with the agreed plan and outcomes and within the operating capacities of the equipment.
• Zero equipment damage due to negligence or not following procedure.
• Report any safety or mechanical problems with the equipment in accordance with company procedures.
• Perform other work required or as directed.
• Responsible for safe operating practices, including operating controls, monitoring gauges and systems, conducting safety checks and use of two-way radio.
• Follows procedures to pick up parts and supplies from the warehouse.
• Responsible for all tasks related to predictive and preventative maintenance programs.  Tasks include but are not limited to: repair or replacement of engines, drive train, after treatment, electronic components, pins, bushings, track components, pickups, and utvs.
• Gathers technical information on equipment needed to perform the job.

Minimum Requirements:

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum 2 years mobile equipment operations experience
• Minimum 3 years of heavy mobile equipment maintenance on John Deere or similar equipment.
• Must be proficient in mobile electronic diagnostics
• Must be able to read and interpret maintenance manuals, diagrams, and use simple math.  
• Basic computer skills required to use maintenance software to track and log jobs

Physical Demands:

• Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear
• Required to stand; walk; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, sit and climb or balance
• Must regularly lift and/or move up to ten pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than one hundred pounds
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
• Capable of working a rotating shift; 14 days on, 7 days off.  You will rotate between days and nights and work 12 1/2 hour shifts
• Room and board provided at or near the location of the job
• Must be able to tolerate working conditions associated with no air conditioning or heat
