About the role

The Senior Data Analyst is responsible for participating in internal and external data consulting projects, working with a cross-functional team to support multiple accounts with population health analytics, data configuration, and reporting for our clients, current and prospective. This will involve hands-on work with consulting teams, clinic staff, providers, executives, vendors and other stakeholders to successfully implement innovative analytics reporting and improve health outcomes. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to gain practical experience and technical skills in health care management and data operations.  The Senior Data Analyst will report to the Director of Medical Economics and Consulting Analytics.

  • Work closely with members of the Consulting, Medical Economics, and Analytics for Risk Contracting Data teams to accomplish the goals, objectives and strategic plans for the company and our California based health plan, provider system, and managed service organization clients.
  • Develop analytics processes and reporting to assist interpretation of data from multiple sources, recommend best approaches for data consolidation and utilization, and provide and/or interpret information across divisions and departments 
  • Maintain reporting tools within the firm’s internal structure and client databases and recommend quality and process improvement as identified.
  • Understands and can recognize and raise risks pertinent to assigned work (at-risk deliverables, deadlines, quality issues, etc.)
  • Assist in the creation of scalable, automated processes for identifying potential areas for population health improvement, including clinical outcomes, network utilization, and financial performance, especially as they relate to clients in value-based contracts and/or delegated risk arrangements
  • Meet with assigned supervisor and additional team members to gain a clear understanding of the projects, their goals and expected outcomes as well as maintain a timeline for the assigned projects 
  • Capable of developing workplans for deliverable production or workstream using basic project management tools. Complete assigned work according to plan and timeline
  • Actively seek out mentoring and professional growth opportunities. Receives feedback openly; demonstrates an eagerness to improve based on feedback
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations and ethical standards 
  • Additional responsibilities to be determined based on team and project needs 

Qualifications:
 
  • Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of relevant job experience
  • Health care background and familiarity with value-based payment methods and delegated risk arrangements
  • Working knowledge of SQL; knowledge of other analytical tools such as SAS, R, STATA, etc., will also be considered
  • Knowledge of data visualization and Business Intelligence platforms preferred (e.g., Tableau, Cognos, Power BI)
  • Strongly preferred previous managed care operations experience with either a health plan, provider system, or managed care organization in California
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Familiarity with population health analytics, healthcare claims data, and clinical data
  • Ability to work effectively on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent organization, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Willingness to work on-site for up to two days a week
