Medical Mobile Unit Operator (MU6001)

Responsible for driving and maintaining the Mobile Medical Unit Operator (MMUO) from its storage/parking place to places of services and maintenance. In addition, is responsible for the set-up and breakdown of the mobile site equipment before and after. Operator will also provide all related duties to registering, scheduling check in, and discharge of patients.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Manage and facilitate maintenance schedules for MMUO by scheduling preventive maintenance, cleaning, and repairs, as needed. Ensure mobile unit is site ready (maintain tanks, fuel level, etc.) Maintain cleanliness of the vehicle as directed, including interior and exterior. 

2. Serve as primary driver of mobile medical unit. Drive the mobile services vehicle from place of storage/parking to service areas, complying with all motor vehicle codes and regulations.  

3. Performs general cleaning, organization and maintenance of equipment/working areas as assigned. Prepares and sets up the vehicle for services as well as breakdown at the end of session. Turns on and off all necessary equipment (water, WIFI, generators, etc.) at the beginning and end of each day. 

4. Assists patients on and off the MMU and maintain patient confidentiality. 

5. Provides a high level of customer service, assisting customers in a friendly and courteous manner, representing the organization in a positive and responsible manner. 

6. Cross trains co-workers to assist with patient registration, and other appropriate non-clinical duties. 

7. Performs patient registration, updates patient information, data entry of demographics, and any other required information. Verifies and activates appropriate patient insurance plan on electronic practice management system.   

8. Oversees the general waiting area, ensuring member check-in process is efficient, and reporting problems or irregularities to appropriate authorities. 

9. Performs patient dismissal to include scheduling of follow up appointments and collects remainder of patient portion of current charges.    

10. Ensure the safety of CommuniCare patients and staff are a top priority.

11. Promptly informs supervisor of real or potential concerns with the MMU.

12. Build and maintain relationships at all MMU locations and in the communities we serve. Additionally, leverage strong communication abilities and relationship-building skills to engage with the Population Health Department team members and key stakeholders within the organization to implement department programs.

13. Observe all driving safety laws, OSHA, state, and federal safety regulations. Secure all necessary traffic and parking permits for the MMU as appropriate. 

14. Knowledge and understanding CommuniCare MMU protocols, procedures and workflows.

15. Collaborate with the Director of Population Health, Population Health Clinical Manager and Population Health Operations Manager to achieve targets related to population health outcomes, clinical performance metrics, programs, education initiatives, communication efforts, and compliance requirements.

16. Conduct outreach and follow-up activities with team members to ensure seamless implementation of department activities.

17. Performs other related duties as assigned. 

 

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

High school diploma or equivalent required.

Minimum two (2) years of healthcare, community or public health experience required.

Must possess a clear, valid Texas Class B vehicle operation license. A Commercial Driver License (CDL) is highly preferred.

Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience driving and maintaining medium to heavy trucks, mobile unit, or large rig.

Knowledge of basic computer skills for use of tracking MMU maintenance and creating reports for Population Health Management.  

Ability to drive MMU from site to site, in town and out of town as requested.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS:

Finger Dexterity: Using fingers to make small movements such as spraying or picking up small objects.

Talking: Frequently conveying detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, clearly, or quickly.

Hearing: Able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information; hear whispered voice at five (5) feet.

Repetitive Motions: Frequently and regularly using the wrists, hands, and fingers.

Visual: Average, ordinary, visual acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or other materials.

Physical: Walking, standing for extended periods of time.  Climbing stairs/ladders; crouching or crawling during custodial maintenance activities.  May have to lift, pull, push heavy equipment, and other such items weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
