Dispatch Associate - Mineola Feed Mill

SHIFT PAY: 19.05 AN HOUR

HOURS: 10 AM - 6 PM

BENEFITS AVAILABLE DAY ONE

PRIMARY FUNCTION: The Dispatch Associate allocates and schedules trucks and drivers for delivery of correct type and quantity of feed to multiple poultry grower farms as well as pick up of unused feed in compliance with Company feeding plan and legal guidelines.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:        

• Allocate correct type and quantity of feed for delivery to poultry, set up delivery, scheduling truck and driver to ensure feed is available for growers when required
• Schedule drivers for reclaimed feed pick-up from grower farms, receive back into appropriate database to ensure accurate records of type and quantity of feed use
• Record and maintain required reports on feed distribution and retrieval, inventory, customer feed requests, dispatches, etc. compiling reports via form or computer software to ensure
• Input and manage feed inventories notifying appropriate personnel to ensure feed ingredients are available as needed
• Review, reconcile and file all feed invoices and ingredient weight tickets in a timely manner
• Constantly monitors tons per delivery
• Understand basic animal food safety and personal hygiene as relates to the protection of animal food as a “Qualified Individual”.
• Monitors driver’s daily records for accuracy and provides to Transportation Supervisor or Feed Mill Manager
• Maintains certification as a Weighmaster in the respective State’s Department of Agriculture
• Ensures that all feed delivery or pickup tickets are officially stamped by certified weighmaster(s), as required
• Understands and acknowledges the responsibilities of weighing Live Poultry and/or Feed as identified by the USDA Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA)
• Promotes an environment conducive to Animal Food Safety and Personal Hygiene
• Notifies Transportation Supervisor or Feed Mill Manager when a suspected Quality or Food Safety event has occurred
• Perform additional relevant duties as assigned

SUPERVISOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

• None. This is an individual contributor role with required competencies: Functional/Technical Skills, Action Oriented, Problem Solving, Learning on the Fly, and Interpersonal Savvy

EDUCATION and CERTIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:

• Minimum six (6) months applicable related driver/ load dispatch experience; previous experience in feed mill logistics preferred
• Good communication (verbal and written) with the ability to communicate to internal and external customers in a prompt and professional manner
• Good math skills with the ability to calculate proportions, area, percentages, volume, etc. to calculate feed needed or returned
• Good computer skills with ability to learn and utilize feed software
• Detail oriented with ability to efficiently self-direct work
• Must be able and willing to be certified as a Weighmaster, through the respective State Department of Agriculture
• Understands and acknowledges the responsibilities of weighing Live Poultry and/or Feed as identified by the USDA Grain Inspection Packers and Stockyards Administration (GIPSA)

SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:

• Follow departmental and company safety policies and programs
• Wear required protective equipment in all areas where mandatory

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Ability to work non-standard shifts (Weekends, Holidays , extended shifts) as needed to meet business requirements
• Ability to remain stationary for extended periods utilizing computer equipment
• Ability to work in hot and dusty environment periodically
