Job Description:

Software Developer Advisor

At GDIT, people are our differentiator. Our work depends on the Software Developer Advisor joining our team to support our efforts to maintain and enhance the Automated Support Package (ASP) for the DOL OWCP DCMWC Black Lung program. In this role you will research, design, develop, test and or modify application software. You will also manage the GDIT team and work with the GDIT Program Manager to provide administrative and functional support for personnel activities.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Software Development

  • Perform all phases of the software development lifecycle
  • Analyze user/business needs and functionality to plan and design software systems to meet those needs.
  • Perform software updates, refinement, testing, and debugging to meet business needs
  • Document the software or system functionality for future maintenance and updates
  • Generate reports and data extracts based on project specifications to meet Audit, FOIA, and other client requests
  • Create models and diagrams as needed
  • Coordinate development of deliverables and products. Ensures quality assurance of project deliverables
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant technology as assigned

Interface Management

  • Participate as needed in regular meetings with customers & relevant stakeholders.
  • Keep all stakeholders in the loop regarding actions being carried out on complex vendor system integration projects
  • Participate regularly and actively in all management and process meetings
  • Responsible for meeting and communicating program milestones and deliverables.

People Management

  • Monitor and manage individual performance of at least 2 team members. Motivate team members to promote team cohesion
  • Provide administrative and functional support for personnel activities such as time keeping,  counseling, and hiring.
  • Work with the Program Manager to reward and recognize team members’ efforts and good work.
  • Assist the Program Manager in conducting employee performance reviews in accordance with company policy
  • Develop team members to ensure skill levels match current and future operational and customer requirements.
  • As needed, provide financial management oversight for the Task Order and maintain budget guidelines and schedules.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

EDUCATION

BS or equivalent with a concentration in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical discipline

EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years of developing IT systems
  • Prior experience developing GUI interfaces and/or web interfaces
  • Experience with relational databases, preferably DB2 and/or, SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL
  • Experience with scripting languages
  • Experience with source code management tools
  • Experience managing teams and people management

PREFERRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Delphi, Java, C++, or other OOP Languages
  • DB2 UDB, SQL Server, Oracle
  • Gitlab, CVS etc.
  • Unix, Linux
  • PERL, Python
