Financial Counselor - Outside

Job Summary

Interviews patients who are underinsured and determines which agencies will provide financial assistance with the patient's hospital and medical bills. Assists the patient through the application process, and follows up to make sure that the patient completes the application in a timely manner.

Essential Functions

• Reviews referrals and obtains travel directions.
• Interview patient or obtain information at home, in jail, at homeless shelter, etc. and/or transports patient to doctor's appointments, hearings, DSS offices, etc. as needed.
• Collects all patient demographic and financial information to complete financial statement.
• Obtains verification of patient information. Completes and opens applications for patients.

Physical Requirements

Work requires constant travel with company car and home office. Each employee is responsible for working in a safe manner.

Education, Experience and Certifications

High School Diploma or GED required. 2 years patient accounting or social work experience and valid drivers license required.
