GSK R&D and Digital & Tech’s (RDDT) collective goal is to deliver GSK impact, including the acceleration the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients. R&D Digital & Tech are the key Tech partner to support the R&D Ambition of bringing more medicines and vaccines to patients and support our scientists by supercharging R&D with Data.
With R&D and Digital and Tech’s joint goals to supercharge data in R&D, and the recent changes to the R&D organization to accelerate Research, the new RDDT Portfolio lead role will lead a streamlined RDDT portfolio focused on ensuring the highest value digital and tech initiatives are invested in across R&D.
The Director, RDDT Digital & Tech Portfolio, Financial Management, Analytics & Insights will be accountable for reporting on portfolio performance, providing data, insights and recommendations for financial planning and optimization across the tech portfolio, to drive efficiency, effectiveness and ROI for R&D Tech.
Key Responsibilities:
You will have with these critical accountabilities:
Financial management of Digital and Tech investment portfolio of > £100m Capital, >£100m linked business opex and >500 FTEs and consumption of software licenses and cost centre management, in partnership with R&D Finance and D&T Finance over 3-year planning horizon.
Provide the data and recommendations to RDDT Portfolio Lead and SVP RDDT to optimize overall shape and strategic direction of the RDDT portfolio of investments.
Accountable for portfolio context for each investment decision, with emphasis on Return on Investment, potential to meet target (based on analytics) and alignment to the investment strategies.
Accountable for capital approval processes (CAB process and governance) within RDDT and supports RDDT Portfolio Lead to hold RDDT Leadership to account to ensure investment decisions are aligned to agreed investment strategies.
Value delivery tracking: working with RDDT teams to track the delivery of committed value from D&T investments e.g. hard savings, cycle-time acceleration, increased PTRS, risk mitigation and more. Partnering with the RDDT Portfolio Strategic Projects Lead to ensure efficient value reporting across RDDT, pulling data as required (and automated where possible) from Strategic Program and Portfolio/Product leads.
Operational metrics include Value, CAPAs, Apps & decommissions, internal & external benchmarking (e.g. PRISME), resource tracking (e.g. FTEs, CWs), risk management and compliance.
Strategic partnerships: Data and insights to inform, and support the development of, efficient, effective and compliant strategic partnerships (who provide 1000s of CWs to our workforce) with technology leaders, including ensuring 3rd party vendors deliver to contractual terms and conditions and value – in partnership with D&T Strategic Partner team. This includes performance as well as crisis readiness and management, training management & compliance.
How:
Accountable for working with Finance, RDDT LT and other stakeholders to continuously improve processes and outcomes.
Accountable for the development of simple, fit-for-purpose analytics to avoid resource-intensive analysis and address a broader range of operational and strategic questions includes dashboards that will influence decisions and behaviours across RDDT.
Provides key interface to GSK Tech Central, influencing process definition, tool development and implementation of centralised portfolio management processes in RDDT. Liaises with Portfolio Management expert bodies external to GSK to explore the potential of Industry best practice and bring into RDDT where relevant.
People Management - Martix: Will work in collaboration with the broader team to drive and deliver business value to tight timelines adhering to the program management calendar where applicable.
Fully participates and provides framework for individual Solution Groups strategic review of their portfolio, providing information on performance, risks and expectations of their portfolio, and providing likely trade-offs to be made, strategic opportunities and gaps.
