WHEN & WHERE YOU’LL WORK: 

Hybrid: This role is hybrid, 3 days a week at our Irvine office due to the nature of the work involved.

A DAY IN THE LIFE:

A junior team member responsible for the development of the company’s continuous subcutaneous insulin infusion (CSII) set product.

Product Development Intern's at Tandem are also responsible for:

  • Under supervision, participates in the research and development of the Company’s CSII product.
  • Contributes to the resolution of design and manufacturing problems.
  • Assists in generating engineering deliverables including 3D CAD models, 2D CAD drawings, assembly fixtures, rapid prototyped parts, etc.
  • Conducts bench testing, records and analyzes data, and writes test reports of results.
  • Trains on the Company’s Quality Policy and performs assigned duties in support of conformance with FDA Quality System Regulations (21 CFR 820) and ISO Standards (ISO 13485).
  • Ensures work is performed in compliance with company policies including Privacy/HIPAA and other regulatory, legal, and safety requirements.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Knowledge of SolidWorks software.
  • Some knowledge of Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Exposure to testing methodology in a R&D environment.
  • Able to effectively convey information related to work product in one-on-one conversation or in a group.
  • Able to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Experienced with MS Office.

Minimum certifications/educational level:

  • Working towards a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field or equivalent combination of education and applicable job experience.

Minimum experience:

  • Intern experience in related environment valuable but not required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment.  In a lab setting, occasionally use hands to finger, handle objects, tools, or controls. Employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.
