Job Description:

Summary:

The SIS Office of International Programs (SIS Abroad) is made up of a small team of professionals in the study abroad and international education field.  The SIS Abroad team establishes international partnerships and programs around the world and works with both domestic students going abroad and international students coming to SIS.  Sample locations include: Japan, Korea, France, Switzerland, Norway, Peru, and Costa Rica. The School of International Service’s Office of International Programs (SIS Abroad) seeks a highly motivated candidate to serve as Program Assistant with a focus on programming support and communication outreach. The Program Assistant will report to the Study Abroad Advisor.

Responsibilities:

  • Responding to inquiries in the SIS Abroad email inbox.

  • Identifying and establishing creative new ways to engage with students.

  • Brainstorming ideas for the Office of International Program’s social media platforms and website.

  • Processing application materials for both outgoing and incoming study abroad students.

  • Assisting with information sessions and pre-departure orientations.

  • Supporting SIS Abroad with program development planning related to international faculty-led programming.

  • Supporting student funding opportunities offered by SIS Abroad (publicizing, communication with students, reviewing applications, and preparing documents for disbursement).

  • Other administrative duties as assigned by the Study Abroad Advisor.

Position Type/Expected Hours Of Work:

  • Part-Time.

  • 6 hours per week.

Salary Range:

  • $18.50 per hour.

Required Education and Experience:

  • The candidate must be a currently enrolled student with Federal Work Study.

  • Candidates must be reliable, detail-oriented, and flexible, and have the ability to both multi-task and work independently on assigned projects. 

  • Ideal candidates will possess excellent communication skills and someone who is a self-starter that is willing to take initiative.

  • General proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and use of Google platforms.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • A graduate student is preferred.

  • Experience with social media is preferred.

  • Interest in international education or experiential education is highly desired.  Office or administrative experience with experience specifically in website content management and marketing/ promotional efforts.
