Position Type: Internship (Part-Time)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Cybersecurity Intern to join our dynamic CIPS team. The intern will assist in various cybersecurity tasks and projects, gaining hands-on experience and exposure to real-world challenges in the cybersecurity field. This internship is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates who are passionate about cybersecurity and eager to learn in a federal contracting environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in implementing and monitoring security measures to protect computer systems, networks, and information.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing under supervision.
  • Analyze and report on security incidents and breaches.
  • Support the development and maintenance of cybersecurity policies, procedures, and documentation.
  • Participate in security audits and compliance assessments.
  • Research and stay current on cybersecurity threats, trends, and technologies.
  • Assist in the development and execution of security awareness training programs.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address security issues and implement security solutions.
  • Provide support in risk assessment and mitigation strategies.

Qualifications:

  • Must possess a current Secret Clearance.
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles, including risk management, threat analysis, and incident response.
  • Familiarity with security tools and technologies such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and antivirus software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Knowledge of cloud security concepts and tools (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Understanding of federal cybersecurity regulations and standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA).
  • Experience with security information and event management (SIEM) systems.
