The Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for the accurate receipt, storage, and shipment of raw materials, packaging, and finished goods in a food manufacturing environment. This role ensures inventory accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with food safety, quality, and safety standards.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Receiving

• Receive incoming raw materials, ingredients, packaging, and supplies
• Verify shipments against purchase orders, bills of lading, and packing slips
• Inspect deliveries for damage, accuracy, and basic quality requirements
• Properly label, document, and store received materials following FIFO/FEFO procedures

Shipping

• Prepare finished goods for shipment, including picking, staging, and labeling orders
• Verify product counts, lot numbers, and expiration dates prior to shipment
• Complete shipping documentation accurately (BOLs, packing lists, carrier paperwork)

Inventory & Documentation

• Maintain accurate inventory records in the company’s inventory or ERP system
• Perform cycle counts and assist with physical inventories

Safety, Quality & Compliance

• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), food safety, and HACCP requirements
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary warehouse environment
• Operate forklifts or pallet jacks safely (certification as required)
• Comply with OSHA requirements, company safety policies, and PPE standards
• Report safety hazards, product damage, or food safety concerns immediately

Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, candidates should meet the following requirements:

• Prior shipping and receiving experience in a manufacturing or food environment preferred
• Basic computer skills and experience with inventory or ERP systems
• Ability to read shipping documents, lot codes, and labels accurately
• Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work in warehouse conditions, including varying temperatures
