How your work would contribute to our organization and the Twin Cities region:

We are seeking a Foreperson, Facilities System Maintenance. This position is responsible for providing facility systems training and guidance for the Metro Transit Facilities Maintenance personnel. To ensure the equipment and systems are maintained, and installed, for safe, efficient and continuous operation of all Metro Transit facilities and stations. To serve as the essential link of communication between vendors, management, engineers, operations, and the workforce.

*This recruitment will establish a six (6) month Eligibility List for current and future vacancies.

Examples of duties

  • Maintain complex systems within the infrastructure of Metro Transit Facilities that include HVAC, boilers, system controls, wash racks, fire suspension, fire alarms, uninterrupted power supply, generators, lighting controls, landscape irrigation, overhead garage doors and openers, and programmable logic systems. 
  • Maintain integration with the BAS and system network.  Monitor building systems at all metro Transit Facilities including daily troubleshooting through monitoring the network and remotely accessing these 24/7 systems providing continuous inspecting to achieve maximized efficiencies.
  • Meet with contractors and vendors to oversee system programming and system upgrades, monitoring contractor and vendor performance.  Inspect and certify completed work to verify conformance to specifications and regulations.
  • Update system operating licenses.  Monitor and follow requirements to keep system licenses current.
  • Install monitoring sensors, make repairs and replace parts as necessary.  Oversees inventory of repair parts, equipment and requisitions replacement stock and availability.
  • Implement and maintains an immediate corrective feedback loop when subsequent failures of a repair or overhaul occur.
  • Participate in the technical analysis of new equipment and repair techniques.
  • Perform accurate record keeping of area's activities, general repairs, and problems encountered so repairs may be rescheduled or completed on a subsequent shift. Prepares a variety of comprehensive reports.
  • Keep updated with current laws, regulations, and developments in areas related to maintenance operations and inform employees as needed.  Train building facility technicians on building and automation system functions.
  • Assist in the development or revision of department policies and procedures; works with manager to establish practices to maximize quality and quantity of work efforts.
  • Serve as a resource to other Council technicians relative to Building Automation Systems.  Stay current with market automations and facility upgrades.
  • Perform job related work as apparent and assigned.

Qualifications

What education and experience are required for this job (minimum qualifications):

Any of the following combinations of experience Facility Maintenance experience of which at least 5 years of work experience to include related Facility Systems Maintenance experience, i.e., maintaining BAS and system network integration and complete education in Building Maintenance Technology or a related field.

  • High school diploma or GED AND at least 7 years of Facility Maintenance experience.

  • Associate’s degree in building maintenance technology or related field.
