SUMMARY
Supports Planning product development for routine, complex and special projects. Ensures products developed support planning policy, and is in accordance with PFP manual. Understanding Material Ordering Schedule (MOS), including VFI needs through IYND’s. Provides outfitting/steel/paint work breakdown and sequencing based on established production rates as required. Has general knowledge of the inner workings of Material Resource Planning (MRP) system and prefer (MACPAC) experience. Reports to Supervisor or Manager. Interfaces with Supply Chain, Engineering, Planning and Production groups. Knowledge of change management, strategization, palletization and budget processes
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Develops plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Area planning, scheduling or analysis and monitors build strategy and quality.
- Assist in development of installation strategies with supporting documents
- Understanding E Bill and M Bill Material analysis and understanding of corrective action
- Assists in resolution of planning problems and Interfacing with Supply Chain, Engineering, Planning and Production groups
- Participates in the development of effective training programs for department personnel.
- Overall understanding of departmental procedures, ISO procedures and work instructions.
- Participates in process improvement initiatives and implementation
- Identifies problems and initiates corrective action
- Prepare detail planning work instructions that directly support installation of outfitting equipment and components. Including budgeting.
- Makes presentations.
- Other responsibilities and duties as assigned
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree preferred in related field. A minimum six plus (6+) years’ experience in planning/scheduling or analysis role.
- Knowledge of at least three of the following of all of the following: MacPac, LMS, Open Plan, CAD systems, PC Analysis tools (e.g. Excel). Knowledge of EVMS principles.
- General of at least one of the following knowledge of Outfit Production Processes; Steel Production Processes; Engineering Design Development Processes.
- Understanding of ship design and construction processes, including the phases of design, planning and build strategy concepts.
- General knowledge of Blueprint reading and stage of construction (SOC) breakdown and philosophy.
- Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
- General Knowledge of all Detail planning processes, procedures and work instructions.
- Good communication skills, including ability to produce material consisting of qualitative Information, rationales, conclusions, and recommendations for presented material.
- Interpersonal working relationships with emphasis on cooperation and teamwork. Can recognize the effects of group dynamics and apply techniques to achieve team objectives.
- Ability to represent the organization concerning all technical issues
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Work occurs in both an outdoor shipyard environment and in an office setting. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Regularly required to sit, use hands and fingers, operate computer keyboard and controls, and communicate verbally and in writing. Requires ability to commute physically to various areas of the shipyard including but not limited to shipboard activities. Must be capable of ascending/descending stairs or ladders, walking on uneven surfaces, and transiting through manholes and other confined, congested spaces. Physical dexterity must allow for bending and reaching. Must remain alert and comply with all safety requirements. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is exposed occasionally to dust, fumes, and smoke. Must be able to spend up to 50% of time in an outdoor shipyard environment in all climates. The noise level is relatively low to moderate in office environments. The noise level in the outdoor shipyard production environment is moderate to noisy 70% of time which may include sirens, horns, chipping, and hammering.
ACCOUNTABILITY
Responsible to the department Supervision for preparation, verification, and distribution of accurate and timely planning products, and budgeting in accordance with department policy. Internal contacts are primarily with Engineering, Supply Chai
