The Classification, Compensation, and Organizational Management Branch within the Division of Employee Management is responsible for administering the Commonwealth’s compensation plan and more than 1,100 job classifications used throughout the executive branch. The branch also manages the state’s organizational and position structure components within the state’s human resource information system, KHRIS, and provides professional and consultative services related to these areas to the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of government.
The Division of Employee Management is seeking an Administrative Specialist Senior to work within the Classification, Compensation, and Organizational Management Branch, and be part of a dedicated team. This rewarding position will provide high-level administrative support in meeting the business needs of agencies we serve throughout the Commonwealth.

Essential responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Provides support in reviewing and recommending approval or denial of routine position classification and compensation actions the Kentucky Human Resource Information System (KHRIS) for statutory and regulatory compliance. Under direct supervision, learns to review and approve or deny a broader range of classification and compensation actions to develop the knowledge and skills necessary for advancement.
- Works collaboratively with managers and consultants in researching and performing organization, job classification, and position maintenance in KHRIS, to include executing mass changes and/or responding to business requests from agencies.
- Provides research support to consultants in the review of job classifications and requests to establish, revise, or abolish job classification specifications. Assists with gathering and analyzing classification data to support recommendations while developing knowledge and skills for advancement.
- Provides administrative support to branch operations such as executing reports, tracking assignments and workflow, facilitating position description (PD) template reviews, monitoring and assigning business requests, conducting compliance and validation reviews, and performing market pay data research and analysis.
- Possesses working knowledge of the Kentucky Human Resource Information System (KHRIS)
- Possesses an understanding of merit and non-merit Kentucky Revised Statutes (KRS) and Kentucky Administrative Regulations (KAR)
- Attention to detail and analytical skills are essential
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Possesses a high level of integrity and personal accountability
Minimum Requirements
EDUCATION:
Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.
EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:
Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.
Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION:
Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year
