About the role

Position Overview

As a member of the AGA Energy Markets team, the Manager participates in strategic policy development and stakeholder alignment to facilitate innovative market and consumer solutions with a focus on climate and sustainability. The Team's mission is to advance awareness of the vital role of natural gas and natural gas infrastructure for consumers and the economy today and to position the long-term value of these gas resources and infrastructure to meet and accelerate bold and ambitious environmental goals. The Team's culture emphasizes collaboration, discourse, creative problem-solving, and professional development.

The Manager supports AGA's growing work on energy efficiency and technology development solutions and is expected to perform a significant role in the implementation of programs and strategic priorities that are intended to support gas utility clean energy, emission reduction, sustainability, and decarbonization efforts. The Manager is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive resource portfolio, including best practices, case studies, and guidelines in energy efficiency and emerging technologies. 

 

Role and Responsibilities

  • In collaboration with the Managing Director, Policy and Strategy, create strategy and surface policy priorities for expanded energy efficiency and gas end-use technology solutions which align with the organization's broader priorities as informed by the AGA Climate and Sustainability Committee.
  • Advance AGA's climate change commitments through the implementation and management of programs, policy resources, events, and more that advance gas utility energy efficiency and end-use technology solutions. 
  • Serve as AGA lead on committees and forums and with external groups and stakeholders to develop efficient, environmentally friendly, and cost-effective end-use technologies.
  • Utilize knowledge in policy, encompassing familiarity with current state and federal programs and incentives, to facilitate the implementation of energy efficiency and gas-end use technologies.
  • Lead the AGA Gas Energy Efficiency Roundtable groups, which provide a platform for the members to engage in peer-to-peer exchange and drive accelerated information exchange and best practices. 
  • Forge and cultivate important relationships with industry associations to guarantee that AGA's policies and initiativesare effectively incorporated and represented in the programs and efforts of those industry groups.
  • Craft and present data-driven briefings and policy recommendations including analytical reports, whitepapers, and case studies to AGA staff, senior leadership, members, and other stakeholders on various topics such as technology adoption, energy efficiency, and decarbonization solutions.


 Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • At least 3 years in energy-related activities, preferably with trade association experience.
  • Knowledge of natural gas utilities, gas end-use technologies, and current and future decarbonization solutions.
  • Proficiency in data collection, interpretation, and dissemination related to energy and policy and the ability to translate data and complex analysis into an actionable roadmap. 
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Proven ability to conduct independent research.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities.
  • Competence in web authoring and content management.
  • Ability to collaborate and excel in a team environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in economics, statistics, business, public policy, or a related field.
